Cookie Information vs CookieYes

Which cookie consent tool fits your site best?

A comparison between Cookie Information (often abbreviated to CookieInfo) and CookieYes clearly shows how the CMP market is divided in two: corporate business software versus accessible 'plug and play' software for the masses.

Where they are identical

Both platforms make your website compliant with strict legislation like the GDPR by stopping marketing scripts until the visitor has formally agreed via the cookie banner. Both tools work completely from the cloud; you only need to paste a piece of code on your website. Naturally, they seamlessly support the integration with the popular Google Consent Mode v2.

Where the difference lies

Hosting and Architecture. Cookie Information is a Danish company with rock-solid data hosting within the European Union, which is essential for many corporate organizations and the government. CookieYes is originally British and hosts data in the United Kingdom. For the average SME, this "third country" status of the UK under the GDPR is often not an insurmountable problem, but for enterprise parties, it is.

Target Audience and Price. CookieYes (with plans starting at $10/month and even a limited free plan) is primarily aimed at startups and SMEs, and uses a model based on website traffic. Cookie Information does not provide free plans. With a more expensive, usage-based model (starting at $20/month), they target multinationals and the public sector.

Generators. With CookieYes, you gain access to an automatic privacy and cookie policy generator in the paid plans, which is very practical if you do not have these yet. With Cookie Information, such a tool is missing; here you must rely on your own legal support.

Our recommendation

For regular (SME) websites, startups, and webshops, we recommend CookieYes. The setup is done in minutes, the subscription costs are significantly lower, and you benefit from the built-in policy generator.

Choose Cookie Information if you work for a larger corporate or the government and you have strict requirements regarding data processing within the EU, where higher subscription costs are secondary to company-wide enterprise architecture.

Setting up a banner does not equal compliance. Most violations occur post-installation because scripts still load too early via Google Tag Manager. Always run a free scan after configuration to verify it actually works.
