ConsentOS vs Cookie Information

Which cookie consent tool fits your site best?

The clash between Consentos and Cookie Information (also known as CookieInfo) is a clash between doing it yourself in-house and fully outsourcing privacy compliance at an enterprise level.

Where they are identical

Both systems offer a mechanism through which your website visitors can approve or reject cookies. Because this logic runs independently of your CMS, you can deploy both Consentos and Cookie Information on virtually any web infrastructure. Both parties also lack an automatic generator for a privacy and cookie policy; in both cases, you will have to arrange legal advice or texts for this yourself.

Where the difference lies

Target Audience and Setup. Cookie Information is a Danish cloud service (SaaS) with a strong focus on the corporate market, governments, and organizations with complex, international web domains. It relieves large companies by managing consent data centrally and clearly via one cloud dashboard. Consentos is an open-source initiative. It focuses exclusively on software developers seeking a bare-bones framework to build their own consent logic without commercial interference.

Technical Maintenance. With Cookie Information, your website is scanned externally and periodically. The system automatically adapts to new trackers and is managed by their support team. With Consentos, you must set up (and maintain) these scans and blockades entirely yourself in the source code of your servers.

Costs. Consentos is open-source and therefore completely free in terms of licensing. The price tag lies in the hours of your developers. Cookie Information uses a "usage-based" pricing model. This starts around $20 per month and quickly runs into hundreds of dollars for organizations with heavy or complex website traffic.

Our recommendation

For regular B2B companies, larger governments, and organizations, we recommend Cookie Information. Despite the hefty cloud subscription costs, you get the company-wide relief, the automatic scans, and the stability that enterprise environments demand.

Choose Consentos exclusively if you work for a tech company with the technical manpower to fully expand a framework self-hosted, in order to avoid the continuous and expensive subscription costs of commercial platforms.

Setting up a banner does not equal compliance. Most violations occur post-installation because scripts still load too early via Google Tag Manager. Always run a free scan after configuration to verify it actually works.
